Description
Some Protestant congregations refuse to call women to positions of pastoral leadership, based on certain passages in the New Testament epistles. Even Wesleyan Holiness congregations, which have a long history of women in pastoral ministry, are beginning to exclude women from ministry leadership.
This case study of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana headquarters) examines the reasons for this shift and challenges churches in the Wesleyan tradition to again base ministerial vocation on individuals’ spiritual gifts rather than their gender.
